There are many days on the top of our hill that we are engulfed in low cloud. Sometimes the damp air seeps through every crook and cranny of our house seemingly endlessly, so that in the end we resort to lighting the fire to dry it out.
My memories of August 2011 are waking up, hoping that I would jump out of bed, draw back the curtains and see the sun rising above the canopy of my favourite tree, but sadly it was not to be, yet another day of damp cloud.
In the colder, winter months however, the roles can be reversed and we are blessed with spectacular sunrises whilst the valley below is blanketed with freezing fog.
As we drive down the 'horrible hill' on the school run we see islands poking through the mist, the sky lit up with a myriad of colour, the views so spectacular that even the children stop chattering and gasp.
Mornings like today make up for all those dull summer days. Mornings like today make living and gardening in an exposed elevated spot so worthwhile. Mornings like today can make my soul swell with happiness that we live on such a beautiful planet.
Lovely photos Dee!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jessie, it was a magical start to the day :)
DeleteJessie I'm so sorry I just deleted the comment you left on my new post instead of publishing it. Not my day :/ thanks so much for your wishes x
DeleteSmashing photos, what a beautiful spot Dee. I agree these mornings make up for the constant grey Atlantic weather, luckily we have occasional moments like you describe with your children, really magical ones:~)
ReplyDeleteThank you Catherine - they were all taken from my phone. Sometimes wish for a 'proper' camera but then I'd have to learn how to use it!

ReplyDeleteIndeed beautiful place. Wow! You are lucky.
ReplyDeleteThanks, we do love it here. Just need reminders now and again why :)
DeleteBeautifully captured images. We too have a"horrible hill" from our house, it does give scope for lovely views which change daily with the weather conditions.
ReplyDeleteThank you Bridget. Reckon there must be lots in Ireland :) Managed to write a car off on this one when a fox cub darted in front of me. It cuts twenty mins of a journey though so everyone takes it, despite it's heart in mouth descent!
Deletethis morning was super here too - nice pics x
ReplyDeleteThanks, glad you had sunlight too. When I went back down this afternoon it was still foggy over Kilkenny. Just one of those rare days :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful views, must make a lovely start to the day!
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely Margaret. There have been some beautiful sunsets and sunrises these last few days, must be the cold weather :)
DeleteMargaret I'm really sorry, I just deleted the comment you left on my new post instead of publishing it - think today's my Friday 13th :/ Thank you for your wishes x
