We were warned not to use the mulch in case of red spider mite and slugs but so far it's been great and as we don't have a ready supply of straw to protect the strawberries has been a good alternative.

I could't agree more Jono! We've been eating kale since August and I think we all need a break LOL!Greenside Uphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08783193096121064217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5886349661882889277.post-84695293885334733552011-04-11T21:54:43.435+01:002011-04-11T21:54:43.435+01:00My kale has just gone to seed too. Your strawberries are so impressive, they must really like that black mulch...I will have to try that one of these years and do a comparison. I grew purple broccoli one year and never did get anything, nor did any of them survive the winter...seeing yours makes me want to give it another shot though.Mr. H.https://www.blogger.com/profile/04576034751522467377noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5886349661882889277.post-15316168727106223752011-04-11T12:21:10.963+01:002011-04-11T12:21:10.963+01:00I love lupins and foxgloves too Lisa.
