I'd test anything first before spraying it on a snowdrop collection!

Personally I dont use any sprays but instead try to encourage beneficial insects into the garden - where there's prey there's usually a predator. Having said that I'm afraid I'm not sure what the prey is on early spring bulbs.Greenside Uphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08783193096121064217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5886349661882889277.post-46791046927689303352011-03-20T03:11:25.940+00:002011-03-20T03:11:25.940+00:00Hello

Do you know an organic way to protect my snowdrop collect from Narcissus Fly and Swift Moth larvae? Do you think the garlic spray would deter them? thanks JennieJennie Sivyerhttp://pick-a-lily.squarespace.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5886349661882889277.post-68163776570013314072011-01-17T11:37:14.451+00:002011-01-17T11:37:14.451+00:00Hello! These diseases play a major role in the current deficit of food supply worldwide. Various control strategies were developed to reduce the negative effects of diseases on food, fiber, and forest crops products. Although fungicide treatments are a key component of disease management, the emergence of resistance, their introduction into the environment and their toxic effect on human, animal, non-target microorganisms and beneficial organisms has become an important factor in limiting the durability of fungicide effectiveness and usefulness. I found one great free book - “Fungicides”. This book contains 25 chapters on various aspects of fungicide science from efficacy to resistance, toxicology and development of new fungicides that provides a comprehensive and authoritative account for the role of fungicides in modern agriculture. Book is new and you can read it like I do on online reading platform or just download it on same link here: http://www.intechopen.com/books/show/title/fungicides Cheers!Brian Smithhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02532521410786281786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5886349661882889277.post-91338551811008583112010-07-04T18:52:15.897+01:002010-07-04T18:52:15.897+01:00Thanks Lorna. Putting up netting around the patch is a great way of keeping them off, and a fine net such as eviromesh will also prevent cabbage root fly laying her eggs around the base of the stems too.

Elder shoots would be the stems. It's not a remedy I've personally tried but I love the idea of making good use of a pernacious weed.Greenside Uphttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08783193096121064217noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5886349661882889277.post-57065461336024462842010-07-04T09:23:11.146+01:002010-07-04T09:23:11.146+01:00This is a brilliant post Dee.
